As of June 25, 2025, the VA requires mandatory Wood-Destroying Insect (WDI) inspections for all purchase loans in El Paso County, statewide, and most of Colorado, regardless of whether the appraiser observes evidence of damage. Inspections must be documented on the appropriate form—NPMA-33 for existing structures, or NPMA-99A and NPMA-99B for new construction VA home loans—prior to closing.
